WALLENIUS SOL will expand its service as of January 2021. A further two ships will enter operation, bringing greater container capacity, improved lead times and calls in more ports.

WALLENIUS SOL HAS JUST charted two new ships, the MV Fionia Sea and MV Jutlandia Sea. They will operate on the Kemi-Oulu-Husum-Zeebrugge-Antwerp-Vaasa route. The two sister ships, built in 2009 and 2010, each offer 3,300 lane metres and a capacity of approximately 300 TEU.

“This means new and expanded opportunities for container loads,” says Jonas Wåhlin, General Manager WALLENIUS SOL.

When the MV Fionia Sea and MV Jutlandia Sea enter service, sailings will be rescheduled as shown below. Among other things, it will mean that the MV Tavastland will call at Kaskinen – a new port on the route map – as well as making more calls at Kemi, Oulu, Husum and Lübeck.

“I’m very pleased we can now make calls in more ports and improve our sailing schedules,” says Jonas Wåhlin. “The new calls are at better times, and we’re also shortening lead times from the continent to northern Finland. There are also good opportunities for adding additional ports to the sailing schedules, which fully reflects WALLENIUS SOL’s strategy.”

The MV Fionia Sea and MV Jutlandia Sea are charted from Leomar RoRo AB.

“We’re very pleased to do business with such a forward-looking shipping company as WALLENIUS SOL. It’s proof that our ships are a perfect fit in WALLENIUS SOL’s system and are a good foundation for increased collaboration moving forward,” says Per Ellingsen, owner of Leomar RoRo.

WALLENIUS SOL will be adding additional capacity when its newly built RoRo vessels enter service at the end of 2021. They are currently building in China, with completion expected on schedule. The vessels each offer 5,600 lane metres and a capacity of up to 800 TEU. They will be fuelled by LNG and enable WALLENIUS SOL to handle larger volumes while reducing the environmental and climate impact.
