Piteå Harbour is a modern deep‑sea port with robust infrastructure designed to handle large vessels efficiently. As one of the deepest ports in the Bothnian Bay, it accommodates ships up to 250 meters in length and manages year‑round operations with support from icebreakers. The harbour handles approximately 1.6 million tons of goods annually, primarily forestry products, and features dual Ro‑Ro ramps, extensive storage areas, and advanced crane capacity up to 100 tons. Recent environmental approvals allow the port to expand its capacity to 12 million tons per year, strengthening its role as a strategic logistics hub for northern Sweden’s growing industrial sectors.
