New executive recruited to a growing WALLENIUS SOL

Words: Olivia Eriksson

Specialised in project logistics and commercial operations, he brings with him 25 years of shipping industry experience. WALLENIUS SOL welcomes aboard Philip Plasschaert to the new position of Commercial Manager for Benelux and the UK.

Because WALLENIUS SOL is investing in bigger vessels and scaling up its freight services between Scandinavia, Antwerp and Zeebrugge, the need for a new executive position also grew. Philip Plasschaert was welcomed aboard WALLENIUS SOL on 1 August 2022, as he took on the new position of Commercial Manager for Benelux and the UK. Residing between two ports of call – Antwerp and Zeebrugge – and with extensive experience from the European and Scandinavian logistics industry, Philip will be an important link between customers in the region and his Swedish colleagues.

“It feels absolutely fantastic! The record-breaking vessels Botnia Enabler and Baltic Enabler recently entered regular service. This also means that volumes, commerce and the need to fill the vessels will increase. I will be managing the commercial business and representing WALLENIUS SOL in meeting with our customers in the Benelux region and the UK,” says Philip Plasschaert.

During his 25 years in the shipping industry, Philip has gained extensive experience in business development, project logistics and commercial management positions. He has worked with regular services for the Vopak and BDP International tank terminal operators and for the Swedish shipping line, Transatlantic. He joins us from his position as Global Projects Manager at DB Schenker. All of his previous positions are characterised by long customer relationships in Scandinavia.

“Having the opportunity to combine commerce and logistics with industrial economics in Scandinavia makes me feel I am ideally suited to the position. I have a good knowledge of the short sea market, its working methods, the way customers prefer to work, and the ways they do not. In my new position, this will be a key component in helping to achieve success for WALLENIUS SOL and Benelux,” says Philip.

He continues:

“And I absolutely love ships! The capabilities WALLENIUS SOL and its new record-breaking vessels are able to offer the market are truly unique. Now I'm looking forward to working together with my ambitious colleagues on our long-term logistics solutions and filling our ships with cargo.”
