WALLENIUS SOL’s record-breaking ConRo-vessel Botnia Enabler has been chosen as a winner of the Shippax Award 2023.

During the Shippax Ferry Conference, held onboard Cruise Barcelona 24–26 April 2023, WALLENIUS SOL received the Shippax Ro-Ro Technology & Environment Award for its record-breaking ConRo vessel Botnia Enabler, designed by Knud E. Hansen.

“We wanted to design a vessel that meets the market’s transport needs, but also WALLENIUS SOL’s own and our customers’ high demands on sustainability. We feel greatly honored to be awarded the prestigious Shippax award,” says Jonas Wåhlin, CCO WALLENIUS SOL.

The Shippax Award jury motivation was:

As the world’s largest ice-rated vessel with multi-fuel operation, the Botnia Enabler unites a design tailored to Baltic services with high capacity and an outstanding environmental performance. Design, size, capacity, efficiency as well as the ability to run on different fuels turn her into a truly remarkable and sustainable RoRo ship.

The Shippax Awards were launched in 1996 as a means to stimulate innovative solutions on newly-delivered ferries, RoRo and cruise vessels.
